C4C is proud to welcome a new signatory, putting the total number of declaration supporters at 34 – representing hundreds of organisations worldwide. On 19 December 2013, the Open Knowledge Foundation (OKF) signed on to our mission of sensible copyright policy in service of creativity, innovation, education, competitiveness and access to culture.
OKF is a non-profit organisation founded in 2004 and dedicated to promoting open data and open content in all their forms – including government data, publicly funded research and public domain cultural content. The Foundation has a global network in over 50 countries of citizens, campaigners, developers, journalists and others who want to see information opened up for everyone.
Jonathan Gray, OKF’s Director of Policy, emphasises that OKF “believes that the public domain is an indispensable public good that everyone should be able to access, use and enjoy”, and that the Foundation would “like to see the EU and more European countries recognising this and taking steps to enable citizens to access and benefit from more of Europe’s cultural and intellectual creations”.
C4C welcomes its new signatory and looks forward to a strong collaboration at the national and European level. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline De Cock, Coordinator of the C4C Coalition, at +32 (474) 840515, or Jonathan Gray, OKF’s Director of Policy.
