C4C Welcomes the Institute of Digital Technologies

C4C is proud to welcome a new signatory, putting the total number of declaration supporters at 37 – representing hundreds of organisations worldwide. In February the Institute of Digital Technologies of the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) signed on to our mission of sensible copyright policy in service of creativity, innovation, education, competitiveness and access to culture.

The Institute is a multidisciplinary study and research centre, focusing on information technology and social transformation. The institute has over 50 researchers in the fields of law, computer science, economics and management, communication, social science, mathematics, etc., and runs three undergraduate and seven master’s degree study programs with more than 500 students.

Prof Dr Mindaugas Kiškis explains that the “Institute is very excited to support this long overdue and very needed copyright reform”, which “is essential for the development of innovative digital content, technology and creative industries in the EU, and especially in Lithuania and other Member States in the Central and Eastern Europe, where creative industries are underperforming in part due to an outdated legal regime”.

C4C welcomes its new signatory and looks forward to a strong collaboration at the national and European level. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline De Cock, Coordinator of the C4C Coalition, at +32 (474) 840515, or Prof Dr Mindaugas Kiškis.
