C4C will be hosting a Dinner for European Parliamentarians, Commissioners and other policy-makers on the evening of the 21st June at the European Parliament in Brussels.
The theme of this evening will be “Copyright and Creativity in the Digital Age: The Shared Needs of Creators, Archivists, and Educators in Altering, Copying and Combining Creative Works”.
Unlike the usual copyright discussions, which centre on arcane points of law and on philosophical concepts, this event will be about the practical needs of three different communities (creators, archivists, and educators) to reveal: What do they really need to be able to do, how do they access and use creative works, and what obstacles do they face?
World-famous European composers, performers and experts on the archiving of creative works and of digital eLearning platforms Konrad Boehmer, Martyn Ware , Ben White and Wilma Mossink will kick off the discussions with a few short presentations.
The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion between the invited guests on how European copyright could better facilitate the needs of creators in ways that benefit everyone. Each table will be balanced to ensure different stakeholders are represented so table discussions will be lively and illuminating.

This dinner is sponsored in part by the Computer & Communications Industry Association ( www.ccianet.org) and held in conjunction with the Trans Atlantic Consumer Dialogue (http://www.tacd.org/)
