C4C Urges the European Commission to Swiftly Publish Responses to Copyright Consultation

In light of the European Commission’s recent public consultation on the review of the EU copyright rules, the Copyright 4 Creativity (C4C) coalition sent a letter to Commission President José Manuel Barroso and Commissioner Michel Barnier urging the European Commission to swiftly publish the submissions received, and preferably next week.

C4C believes that this will ensure maximum transparency, as well as enable independent parties to the European Commission to conduct their own analysis of the views expressed. With over 11.000 responses, this consultation has demonstrated the tremendous interest in the issue at stake.

C4C remarks that the consultation legitimately pays attention to text and data mining, and believes that such an effort would allow researchers and citizens to mine these submissions and to show the potential of this technology.
